As someone who works in the visual arts industry, photography has always been one of my hobbies. For quite some time, I had been looking for a topic to explore here on my blog that could connect with my photographs because, in my view, art is meant to be seen. Then I thought: what do people enjoy watching on the internet these days? Travel, of course.
Everyone loves to travel, whether for a well-deserved break or simply to discover new places. As for me, I live deep in the countryside of São Paulo State and don’t get out into the world very often. Chances are that you, reading this post, are from somewhere far away from here. So, from your perspective, even a stroll around my neighborhood corner can be a journey.
And so, here we are.
We have this lovely town square that’s been somewhat neglected by the local government. I say “somewhat” because the grass regularly grows to about half a meter tall, but at least there’s nighttime lighting. So, half a thumbs-up for public administration.
On the left side of the square, there’s a beautiful soccer field built by the residents of the neighborhood. There’s always someone kicking a ball around there. It’s impressive how the ball always seems to come flying in my direction whenever I walk by, yet I’ve never actually joined in. I’m one of those people who stays tucked away in the office, sitting in front of a computer.

The Other Corner
This is the gathering place of the elderly forró dancers. My paternal grandmother practically lived there, spending entire days dancing two steps forward and two steps back. I’ve never gone inside, so I have no idea what it’s really like. In my imagination, that entrance is a portal that transports you straight back to the 1970s, with accordion players passionately performing Gonzaguinha songs while country folks flirt from ten meters away.
Since I was born in the 1990s, I’m afraid that if I walk through that portal, I might disappear forever.

Just down the street, we have the meeting place of the non-university country music crowd. I’ve never been inside that one either. To be honest, I’m not much of a fan of university-style country music performed by people who never went to university.
So, let’s continue our walk.

Rufous Hornero

When you have a camera in your hands, you begin to notice many things, including the hidden beauty tucked away within our everyday routines.
To bring this post to an end, I’ll leave you with this photograph of a rufous hornero. The day after I took this picture, I never saw it again.
At this point, you’re probably thinking, “And now comes that beautiful motivational quote!”
Well… I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you.
Thank you very much for joining me on this little journey. I truly enjoyed taking this walk with you.
Until next time!
